This is water with a little bit of piss in it. I’m still going to finish it all though, because alcohol.

Um if you’re drinking something with a printed label, you’re not drinking real beer.

Seems appropriate for the UK edition of Sam Adams to be full of piss.

Sam Adams is so weird to me. They make all kinds of pretty good brews, but their main staple, Boston Lager, is complete and utter garbage.

If your piss looks like that, you need to see your doctor. But if you just want proper beer, you need this:

Sam Adams is trash. I have never had a beer of their’s that I like. I have had a mixed 12 pack sitting in my fridge since before the holidays. I have been pawning them off on my father in law one by one.

We sell it at our place. I keep looking at it thinking to try it some time.
Glad I hadn’t now.
But at £3.90 for four 330ml bottles, I’d rather get 3x660ml bottles of Warsteiner for £5.

I really don’t get the hate. I mean it’s nothing special, but I can enjoy it as much as any other mild lager. Can someone explain why people like trashing on Sam Adams so much?

You see, the thing that should have given it away is the word ‘lager’ printed on the label.
Believe it or not, the literal translation of the word ‘lager’ is in fact ‘water with a little bit of piss in it’.

I’m on board with just about any Mexican lager (corona, tecate, modelo). IPA’s and Belgian beers are my favorite, but it hurts when you drink more than a few IPAs and Belgian beers are normally pretty spensive.

Ouch, of the 140+ stouts, ales, beers and lagers we sell, you bought a dud.
Still you’ve got to try them to find out what they taste like.
Every day is a learning day.
I have my favourites for when I want to relax.
The 4 for £5 and 3 for £4 offer are good deals to try new stuff.

Concur.
I like Corona and would likely buy better beer than Sam’s if I was going for something along those lines, but to say Corona is better is a stretch.
I mean I drink a ton of Miller Lite. Not because I love it but because I can drink it for cheap in between the $6/bottle microbrews and can cook with it if needed.
Also my neighbor pays me in cases of Miller Lite for keeping his bike in running condition. Free beer of any label is welcome.

Don’t listen to the haters. Living in New York as a shiftless twenty-something, I developed an undying love of cheap 40s of Heineken from bodegas, and nothing will ever change that.

proper Guinness glass.
The Brewers Project stuff is good. The Original XX is fantastic, as it should be because it’s what Guinness was between 1861 and 1970.

I think the issue is that it’s all too mild. Like, if you like beer that’s a little more adventurous than most macro-macro-macro-brews, but is just a tad watered-down for mass consumption, there’s Sam Adams.
It’s low-hanging fruit because they’re a big name, for sure. If only Texas’ many too-mild craft offerings would come under the same scrutiny, we’d finally be onto something.

Do they drink/sell a lot of Sam Adams there? Boston Lager goes bad fast in my experience. It isn’t a bad beer, but it is their volume beer. It’s trying to please as much people as possible. Boston Ale (the red label) is better but you’ll never write home about anything that Sam Adams makes lol.

Sam Adams was an American terrorist who murdered British officials, so the UK version of the beer probably does have piss in it.

I think a lot of the hate is do to with jim koch being full of himself, the beer not being special or rare when you can get it at any bar/restaurant and, its brewed in Cincinnati which annoys a lot as all you hear is boston boston boston, but nothing is from boston. also they charge a premium for a mass produced beer. What is funny was Jim was banned from the craft brewers conf due to the massive size of Sam Adams and he just whined.

The Original XX is what anyone drinking Guinness before 1970 would know as Guinness. It doesn’t have one of those widget created creamy foam heads but I prefer it to draught Guinness where available in pubs.
Thankfully we do a 12x440ml pack of Original XX for £10 and a 15x440ml pack of Draught for £15.

“cheap 40's” “heineken”
did they not have ice’s? needed to increase your ABV/$
plus beast/natty/steel reserve ice are better than heineken.
